Under the general guidance of the Billing Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring charge reports and addressing billing and coding issues to minimize reimbursement delays and denials. Responsibilities include submitting additions, changes, and deletions to the department's Charge Description Master (CDM) for Rate Review approval. The incumbent will be responsible for coding, abstracting, and billing medical supplies, implants, and surgical and anesthesia services. They will identify all billable services and assign and validate HCPCS and revenue codes for billing to government agencies, insurance companies, and patients.
Ensuring documentation accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific rules, regulations, and requirements related to hospital charges is a critical part of the role. The incumbent will participate in project teams and task forces to review and analyze UCDHS billing and compliance policies and procedures, assessing their impact on the Division's billing practices.
In support of coding quality review, the incumbent will collaborate with the supervisor to address any discrepancies between coding and documentation. Key responsibilities include collecting case information, analyzing documentation, identifying discrepancies, and preparing and entering charges into the online charge entry system. Additionally, the incumbent will utilize reports to monitor adherence to required policies and procedures and perform audits and reconciliation processes for charges entered.
