Job Description

We’re looking for an innovative and highly motivated team player to join our team in supporting the Lake Gaston and Northwest River Water Treatment Plants, along with their associated remote site operations. As a Utility Electronics Technician II, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing a variety of electrical equipment and devices critical to plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including:
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Three-phase motors
  • Motor control devices

Calibrate, repair, and maintain:

  • Electric valve actuators and related control devices
  • Flowmeters, level probes, pressure transducers, and ultrasonic sensors
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics
  • Work with both DC and three-phase AC power systems
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of pumps and other mechanical and plumbing systems
  • Use computers and software to document and manage detailed maintenance records
  • Apply strong analytical thinking to identify problems and recommend operational improvements
  • Perform physical tasks including walking, standing, climbing ladders, bending, crawling, and working at heights

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires an associate’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in electronics or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City Driving Standards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Performance of essential functions may require exposure to confined spaces.
