Under the direction of the UNIX Support Group Information Technology Manager I (IT Mgr I) as part of the OTech UNIX Support Group, the Information Technology Specialist I (IT Spec I) provides complex-level system administration for central UNIX (AIX) servers in a highly available and reliable computing environment. Services include advanced design, development, configuration, system and user application installation; maintenance of system services, including patching, monitoring of system performance and status; diagnosis and repair of system failures in accordance with best practices in system administration and security. The Technical Specialist assists clients with complex troubleshooting/resolving end-user issues; remains aware of current trends in computing; evaluates new developments in computing hardware and software; creates programs and scripts in support of the group’s existing services; and participates in system projects and Infrastructure upgrades. This position requires the application of skills in analysis, planning, project management, documentation, system performance/resource utilization information analysis gathering, vendor interaction, and problem reporting and resolution.
Telework
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule within California based on the departmental policy and operational needs. The telework policy is subject to change depending on business needs, and/or reporting to the work site may be required with minimal notification.
