Position Summary:

Entry-level position in our culinary department.

Job Description:

Prepares and produces food items to be utilized in production and pantry areas. Prepares all items according to recipe standards. Maintains required stock levels in various restaurants. Relieves the line cooks as needed. Makes recommendations in ordering of supplies. Prepares items such as but not limited to soups, stocks, fruits, proteins, vegetables, garnishes and salads. Maintains assigned station and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.

Knowledge, Skills & Education Preferred:

High School Diploma preferred. Six months to one-year experience in making salads and salad preparation.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to work inside a kitchen and on a line during entire shift.
  2. Must be able to maneuver around all areas of the kitchen.
  3. Must be able to tolerate areas with extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  4. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  5. Must be able to push and pull carts weighing up to 150 pounds.
  6. Must possess coordination and dexterity to use kitchen utensils such as knives, spatulas, food tongs, etc. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, push, and pull when rotating stock and cleaning work area.
  7. Must be able to operate the following kitchen equipment: stoves, grills, fryers, and other utensils in preparing food orders.
  8. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  9. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English and be able to conduct conversations with peers in a distinctive and persuasive manner.

Licensing and Certification Required:

Employees may be required to obtain a Missouri Gaming Commission license. The initial license is paid for by the employee through payroll deduction. All subsequent renewals for the license are paid by Harrah’s North Kansas City.
