Job Title: Pipefitter

Job Description

The Pipefitter is responsible for tack-welding, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining metal piping systems in accordance with blueprints, schematics, and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience interpreting technical drawings, excellent attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform butt weld, socket weld, and threaded pipe fabrication.
  • Select appropriate pipe types, sizes, fittings, and materials based on project specifications.
  • Inspect systems for proper alignment, leaks, and mechanical integrity.
  • Modify, clean, and maintain piping systems and related equipment per job specifications.
  • Safely operate rigging equipment such as chain hoists, come-alongs, and jacks to position piping.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other trades to ensure on-time project execution.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable safety codes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned, including assembly work.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of industrial pipe fitting experience.
  • Ability to assemble and install pipes, fittings, supports, hangers, valves, and other piping components (e.g., iron, steel, specialty metals).
  • 5+ years of reading and interpreting blueprints, isometric drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams (P&IDs) to determine pipe layout and installation sequence.
  • Ability to measure, mark, cut, thread, bend, and weld or solder piping systems using saws, torches, pipe cutters, and threaders.
  • Experience installing brackets, hangers, and clamps to support piping and reduce stress or vibration.
  • Ability to plan and lay out full-scale pipe systems and calculate offsets and cuts for precise fabrication.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
