Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician/Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility. Your primary responsibilities will include performing preventive maintenance (PMs) and changing chains, belts, and shredders on screw conveyors. Additional duties may involve extrusion operation and driving the boom lift during slower periods or covering for other staff on the floor.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve motor, pump, conveyor, and hydraulic problems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and issues with an excellent mechanical, electrical, and process controls knowledge.
  • Check equipment and operating systems and correct wherever necessary.
  • Ensure mechanical operations, standards, and controls are maintained at high quality.
  • Provide high-level technical support to lower-level technicians.
  • Demonstrate expertise in working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comply with company safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Repair and perform preventive maintenance as per established standards.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment.
  • Ability to weld and use a cutting torch as necessary.
  • Handle repairs and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot areas including PLC, servo, motor controls, vision systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and related systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Effectively manage time, organize tasks, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adhere to company Health and Safety Protocols.

Essential Skills

  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Mechanical expertise.
  • Preventive maintenance experience.
  • Repair and welding skills - 2 years of Canadian experience (Apprenticeship or full-time).
  • 2 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques: Mig and cutting torch.
  • Experience with conveyors, chains, and belts.
  • Comfortable working in a dusty environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 433a ticket is nice to have.
  • Forklift and boom lift experience.
  • Available to work overtime as needed.
  • Self-starter who works well with all levels and is well organized.
  • Ability to operate man lifts and fork trucks.
  • Must be in good physical condition and able to lift 50 lbs.
  • 8000 hours of experience and a certificate preferred.
  • Proficiency in electrical systems, logic controllers, and industrial electrician work.
  • Proven experience as an Industrial Mechanic or similar role.
  • Ability to fabricate parts using various tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with welding techniques and boiler operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.

Work Environment

Join a team that operates in a facility dedicated to recycling electronics like circuit boards and computers to separate metals for resale. The plant runs three shifts: Days from 5am to 1:30pm, Afternoons from 1pm to 10pm, and Nights from 1pm to 10pm. The work environment includes 2 millwrights on the night shift, with a need to fill the gap with 2 additional millwrights. You'll work with equipment such as shredder lines, air compressors, dust collectors, chains, belts, and screw conveyors.

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $83200.00/yr.
