We're seeking an innovative professional to help shape the next generation of cloud infrastructure by strategically identifying and developing data center locations across the United States.

You'll play a critical role in expanding our cloud infrastructure by navigating complex real estate landscapes. Your strategic thinking and collaborative approach will help transform potential sites into state of the art data centers that power global technological innovation. By bridging technical understanding with real estate expertise, you'll contribute to building sustainable, community-conscious infrastructure that supports our growing cloud services.

Your day will be a blend of strategic planning, stakeholder collaboration, and creative problem-solving. You might start by analyzing potential development sites, then transition to coordinating with local jurisdictions, and end by developing comprehensive project strategies that balance technical requirements with community needs.

Key job responsibilities

Lead comprehensive real estate deal processes from initial engagement through successful closure

Develop strategic site plans that align technical requirements with market conditions

Collaborate across multiple teams including Design Engineering, Legal, and Economic Development

Manage project budgets and schedules with meticulous attention to hard and soft costs

Engage with local jurisdictions to ensure smooth project approvals and community integration

About the team

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Real Estate or related fields.
  • 6+ years experience in real-estate development, law, engineering, master planning in a technical industry
  • 5+ years’ experience performing the full range of land entitlement functions leveraging a combination of internal and external resources.
  • 5+ years’ experience in site due diligence, site development, and negotiation of entitlement agreements for large complex projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree or higher (including Juris Doctor) in Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Real Estate or related fields.
  • Understanding of and experience in the Data Center industry, including data center siting and general operations.
  • Experience in public private partnerships
  • Ability to understand and communicate high level electrical, power & cooling, fiber optics, and other technical requirements, particularly related to Internet infrastructure
