GSS is currently seeking to fill the full-time position of Division Controller. The successful candidate will lead the finance and accounting team, while maintaining the global budge, forecasts, and actuals across all North America facilities. This position will report to the GSS President based out of our Farmington Hills, Michigan, Global Headquarters. This position may be based out of either the GSS Watertown CT facility or the Neapco corporate headcounters in Farmington Hills, MI.
Job Description: Global Steering Systems (GSS) Division Controller
Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial reporting requirements of Global Steering Systems (GSS)
- Three sites (NA site includes HQ, in addition to two international sites)
- Lead the GSS finance and accounting team ensuring delivery of a global budget, long range plan, forecasts, monthly actuals, and risks & opportunities to budget and forecasts
- Ensure the financial reporting is in accordance with US GAAP in the NA region, and in compliance with local GAAP accounting standards and tax regulations for international sites.
- Responsible for the financial control environment at each site.
- Oversee and advise GSS President and Global Finance VP on financial business cases analysis impacting GSS (including RFQs, investment decisions, make/buy decisions).
- Drive standardization and best financial practices across the regional manufacturing locations
- Provide day to day oversight and leadership, coaching and direction to the plants finance teams
- In conjunction with manufacturing leadership teams and site controllers, develop standard metrics to report on daily/weekly performance as advanced indicators of financial performance versus expectations
- Drive financial business partnership culture across the finance organization
- In conjunction with GSS plants, develop common product & portfolio profitability reports including key variance drivers versus budget and quotation metrics
- Establish common approval and escalation levels within GSS organization and Neapco HQ, ensuring balance of proper control and oversight while maintaining speed and reducing bureaucracy
- Oversee capital forecast and long-range plan, ensuring all investments meet required metrics with strong focus on spending timing
- Ensure receivables, payables, and payroll are processed timely, interfacing as appropriate with Neapco’s HQ team
- Recurring reviews including profitability margins, balance sheet review and operations review preparation.
- Manage team of 5-6 people. 2 plant controllers and 3-4 staff members including an indirect IT team member
- Ad-hoc requests and investigations
Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of previous plant controllership experience preferably in Tier 1 automotive OEM environment
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations
- Strong knowledge of operations finance, including product costing, manufacturing efficiencies (including labor, scrap, quality, overheads), labor cost analysis, scrap metrics, materials tracking, product profitability calculations, make vs buy analyses, and product mix impacts on the business
- Experience as a business partner to operational leadership
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated ability in process and procedure development
- Knowledge of ERP systems (preferably PLEX) and how to utilize the ERP systems for maximum efficiency
- Experience thriving in a matrix/cross functional environment
- Desire to be a true business partner with operational leadership
- Extreme attention to detail, deadlines, and standard requirements
- Ability to travel including international travel.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
- MBA, CPA, or MS preferred
- Minimum ten (10) years related experience in automotive finance, including preferably direct experience as a Tier 1 automotive plant controller
