Operations Manager
Pay: $95,000 - $100,000
As the Operations Manager for Pratt Industries – San Antonio, you will play a pivotal role in upholding our facility's high standards for safety and quality. You will be responsible for developing and overseeing company safety programs, managing quality systems, and directing all production scheduling. This position acts as the key liaison between production, sales, and customer service to ensure seamless and accurate order fulfillment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Quality & Safety
- Resolve quality problems as needed with vendors, customers, and company personnel.
- Coordinate communications between all company facilities regarding quality related issues.
- Investigate incidents, monitor medical care and manage worker’s compensation activities. This includes reporting to insurance carrier, inquiries from doctors and health care providers and management of claim to insure cost containment.
- Assis in conduction (leading) safety inspections, meetings, and training programs.
- Manage new-hire safety orientation program.
- Monitor light duty program: develop light duty job descriptions, communicate with physician/doctor, etc.
- Complete and maintain all paperwork with regards to work-related incidents.
- Assist with the purchasing of safety equipment and systems.
- Responsible for facility fire protection systems and subsequent training.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Participate in safety/quality conference call.
Scheduler
- Schedule machine operations and oversees and coordinates all production activities with sales, sales service, and shipping to ensure that orders are being handled properly.
- Schedule production machines in the most effective and efficient ways possible.
- Coordinate all production activities with sales, sales service and shipping to ensure customers’ orders are being handled properly.
- Conduct scheduling meetings with various staff members to explain shipping deadlines, existing and/or new orders, and any outstanding issues or problems.
- Order and receive the sheets maintaining OTD as well as manageable inventory.
- Oversee the customer service department and provide backup as required.
- Mange the SAP purchasing system.
- Manage and dispatch the shipping department to achieve OTD as well as low freight cost.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.

What You’ll Need to be Successful
- Education: BS. Degree required.
- Experience: Proven supervisory experience and at least 10+ years in the corrugated industry.
- Language Skills:
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Able to write routing reports and correspondence.
- Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy, calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurements, volume, and rates. Able to apply concepts of high school level math.
- Reasoning Ability: Skilled in problem-solving with minimal guidance or standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions (written, oral, diagrammatic, etc.).
- Technical Skills:
- Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor’s role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
- Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and well help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.

- Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies and person
- Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. May be require to use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
- This noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Leadership attributes: You must demonstrate exceptional skills in time management and the ability to navigate crises effectively to ensure operational continuity. A key component of this role is building strong employee relations, requiring superior interpersonal communication for teaching, training, and coaching your team.
- Certifications: None required, but leadership training or quality management certifications are a plus
