Business Unit Leader – GORE Cover Compost

About the Role: We are seeking a global Business Leader to lead our GORE® Cover Compost Business Unit, which is a business unit in the W. L. Gore & Associates Specialty Group of businesses. This leader will be responsible for strategy, execution, business outcomes, and will be accountable for achieving profit and revenue goals. This Business Leader has a unique mission and ability to positively impact the environment by helping customers drive sustainability in soil management. The position will be based at our facility in Elkton, Maryland, with a hybrid remote work arrangement depending on business needs and the responsibilities of the role.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $180,000 - $200,000 per year
  • Roles above $150k are eligible for the variable pay program each fiscal year, based on defined business performance metrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape the vision and lead strategy development to deliver on Gore’s enduring standards for revenue growth and operating profit
  • Design and implement an organizational structure that supports growth, including leadership for the GORE® Cover Compost team across sales, product specialists, operations, marketing, finance, and legal
  • Drive and report financial results and countermeasures to the Specialty Group and Gore Enterprise for both the short term (FY26) and long term (FY31 and FY35), focused on revenue and profit
  • Lead as a hands-on “player-coach,” partnering with the team in a small business/startup-like environment and prepared to wear multiple hats; provide clarity of roles, responsibilities and desired business outcomes to ensure a highly collaborative, inspired and effective team working across regions to deliver business results and deliver direct and constructive feedback on performance to expectations
  • Drive and continually evolve the business model to extend Gore's position and accelerate growth; organize for business success and evolve organizational design including leveraging external partners in the value chain; continuously assess our value relative to the competition so that we can effectively value-price our products to maximize long term profit
  • Create and deliver overall Sales and Market plans and execution to win in the market, resulting in significant sales growth and sustainable achievement of growth targets that meet or exceed external market growth rate benchmarks
  • Lead annual Strategic Plan and annual forecasting process for GORE® Cover Compost and engage Specialty team to align
  • Engage and influence external parties, including partners, distributors, and regulators; collaborate ideas and opportunities with the Specialty Business Leader on business development around mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships to add new sources of growth
  • Manage the portfolio, provide support and challenge to project teams, clarify investment criteria, and drive portfolio choices to support the best opportunities for growth and productivity improvements
  • Ensure an innovation and risk-taking climate with discipline and high Associate engagement, surface and resolve conflicts, clarify expectations, build skills and leadership capabilities in others

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or business, with a minimum of 5 years of experience successfully leading a global business with strategy responsibility
  • Experience managing a product P&L with strong financial acumen; understands key levers to improve cash flow and drive productivity through continuous improvement tools (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, digital transformation)
  • Experience identifying and driving organizational change by engaging teams collaboratively to deliver measurable business outcomes
  • Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and drives outcomes with an entrepreneurial attitude and approach
  • Track record of being externally focused and building strong relationships and partnerships with end customers, distributors, and partners
  • Demonstrated success leading global teams outside the home region (US, Europe, or Asia) by setting clear investment criteria, aligning goals, and driving cross-functional performance—including leading efforts to identify and implement productivity improvements across multiple functions
  • Skilled in coaching and developing talent across functions—including Supply Chain, Technical, and Product Specialist roles
  • Data-driven decision maker who applies the 80/20 rule and influences alignment even when data is incomplete
  • Excited to travel and be on the ground, spending time at composting sites around the world
  • Ability and willingness work flexible hours to support global teams and travel globally up to 30% to engage in frequent interactions with partners and customers, particularly in the supply chain

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience successfully leading a global business with full strategy and P&L responsibility
  • Experience applying the Gore Business Systems or other continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, digital transformation) to optimize processes and deliver measurable improvements in cash flow and operational efficiency
  • Desire to commit to and grow with the business long term—bringing consistency, vision, and leadership continuity as the business evolves
