The Family Support Division (FSD), Office of Workforce and Community Initiatives (OWCI) is seeking candidates to fill a Program Specialist position. This position will be based in Cole County located at 3705 MO Blvd., Jefferson City, MO.

This is a professional position that will work closely with program, budget, and other staff. This position requires a high degree of judgement and initiative in completing assigned duties. The person in this position is vital to the OWCI contract administration and implementation, coordinating documentation for proposals, budgets, and budget narratives. You will gain experience, skills, and advanced knowledge of the ins and outs of state government budgeting, programs, and the legislative process.

This position will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties:

  • Research, review and analyze federal and state legislation for program impacts.
  • Oversite of assigned contracts
  • Monitoring the proposed use federal and state dollars for expenditures outlined in vendors or grantees proposals.
  • Answers technical questions from providers, staff, and peers regarding TANF, general revenue, and other funding sources.
  • Review expenditures, budgets, and budget narratives in conjunction with fiscal/invoicing team.
  • Training and follow up with contractors.
  • Act as a liaison for contractors, community partners and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: The person in this position should be organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change. Excellent time management, written verbal communication skills, and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, agency staff, and other partners. Ability to work independently in assessing and managing priorities. Experience with computers and desktop applications, including Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of and Excel formulas preferred.
