The World This Hour is looking for an experienced journalist with excellent on-air skills to join the program as News Editor / Presenter. We’re looking for a creative and smart host to fill a staff leave that’s expected to last 18 months.
The Program
The World This Hour is Canada's only live 24/7 national newscast and can be heard on CBC Radio, CBC Listen, online and on digital devices including smart speakers. Our promise to the listener is that at any time and on several platforms we deliver a brief but dynamic update on the most important national and international news – each and every hour.
The role
The successful candidate will be a solid writer, editor and communicator with a demonstrated ability to work independently. Hosting an hourly newscast, you need to be organized and a multitasker with a proven ability to work under tight deadlines.
This position requires outstanding news judgment, critical thinking and understanding of CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices. The ideal candidate is a team-player who draws on their own life experience, perspective and expertise in ways that will enrich The World This Hour’s content.
You must be at ease self-operating in the studio, using iNews, editing and mixing with Dalet, navigating MediaCentral, and comfortable working with limited support.
This backfill position is based in Toronto, working Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 until 20:15.
