ATTENTION:

The Office of the Chancellor at The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applicants for the position of Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Chief of Staff (Title IX Coordinator (Inst), CP027).

JOB DETAILS:

The Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Chief of Staff is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with Title IX, managing the intake, response, investigation, and resolution of all reports to the Title IX Office. This role also involves developing and implementing institutional policies, overseeing the design and implementation of Title IX and Violence Against Women's Act (VAWA) educational programs in collaboration with partners such as human resources, student affairs, and Clery officers. In addition, the role supports the Chief of Staff and Senior Strategy and Compliance Officer by advancing strategic initiatives, supporting shared governance processes, and ensuring effective communication and follow-through on Chancellors Office priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of four years of full-time professional experience in higher education by date of hire
  • Demonstrated understanding of federal Title IX regulations, VAWA, the Clery Act, and other relevant statutes and guidance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or JD plus at least two years of relevant work experience is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience working in Title IX or student conduct is highly desired
  • Experience in policy development, education, and communication
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Crisis management and emergency response skills; ability to manage high-pressure situations ethically, effectively, efficiently, and consistently
  • Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant laws such as Title IX, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Clery Act
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, superior judgment, and neutrality
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work under multiple deadlines and sensitive timelines
  • Evidence of effective spoken, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening
  • Ability to work collaboratively with constituents, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, community partners, and law enforcement agencies
  • Ability to provide effective and appropriate advice and expertise to all levels within the University community
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Title IX Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to Title IX compliance, ensuring adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and institutional policies
  • Manage the University's centralized review, safety and risk assessment, investigation and resolution of reports of Title IX including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and address any patterns or systemic problems that arise during the review of such complaints
  • Maintain and update the case management system and database, ensuring all reports and investigations are accurately recorded and tracked in the database
  • Collects and compiles data to support required annual submissions and reports, including Clery, NCAA, and other compliance-related reporting needs
  • Develop, deliver, and oversee university-wide Title IX training and programming
  • Review institutional policies, procedures, guidelines, and publications to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to sex-based discrimination and misconduct
  • Remain current on compliance requirements and best practices related to Title IX, Clery, Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (Campus SaVE) Act, VAWA, and other statewide and national laws/initiatives related to all areas of responsibilities; provide ongoing (minimally annual) updates to University processes, procedures, and; maintain external continuing education as required by Title IX
  • Other Duties as assigned, and not limited to responding to emails, calls, and other unexpected and unassigned internal and external requests for information, explanation, etc.

Deputy Chief of Staff Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief of Staff in advancing strategic projects, institutional priorities, and time-sensitive initiatives from the Chancellor's Office
  • Assist in coordinating shared governance engagement, including tracking resolutions, supporting meeting preparation, and written communication
  • Assist in the preparation of executive-level communications, briefings, and presentations to ensure consistent messaging and alignment
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Chancellor's Office and institutional priorities

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $80,000 - $90,000.
