Job Description

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Carrier Management and Procurement Manager to lead the procurement and management of transportation services across all modes (small package, less-than-truckload, truckload, intermodal, ocean, air, etc.). This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing carrier relationships, and driving cost optimization while maintaining service quality and compliance. The ideal candidate will have deep industry knowledge, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset to support our evolving logistics needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for transportation services to meet cost, service, and capacity requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers and logistics service providers across all transportation modes.
  • Evaluate and select transportation partners based on performance, cost, capacity, and service metrics.
  • Monitor carrier performance through KPIs, scorecards, and regular business reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, planning, procurement, finance) to align logistics strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Analyze freight spend and transportation data to identify cost-saving opportunities, route optimization, and process improvements.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulations, and capacity changes to proactively manage risk and ensure continuity of service.
  • Lead bid events/RFQs and manage the sourcing calendar.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation-related regulations, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or related field highly preferred, or commensurate training and experience required
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation procurement, logistics sourcing, or supply chain management.
  • Required experience in LTL, parcel, and ECOM procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation markets and regulations.
  • Proven experience in negotiating and managing carrier contracts.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions.
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and ERP software.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), web-based, and Windows based software
  • Excellent professional level written and verbal communication skills - ability to interface and communicate effectively with multiple functional groups, geographic regions, different levels of internal and external client organizations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, other departments, and interact with various work behavior styles
  • Highly self-motivated with ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines within an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
  • Change Management: ability to make an effective case for change and to drive progress within the organization

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications such as CTL, APICS, or CSCM
  • Experience with digital freight platforms or procurement software
  • Understanding of sustainability practices in logistics

This job operates an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and smartphones.

The person in this position must operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine, printer, calculator; pull/retrieve/file documents in a filing cabinet. May need to position oneself to move between tight, high, or low spaces. Seeing abilities required by this job include detecting/identifying/recognizing/inspecting objects close to the employee, within a distance, peripherally, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
