Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Program Manager for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Research and Development Integrated Space Experiments (RISE) contract at Kirtland AFB, NM. The Program Manager will support the AFRL Integrated Experiments and Evaluation Division (RVE) by providing end-to-end support for the design, development, integration, testing, and evaluation of engineering prototypes that demonstrate the viability of innovative space technologies. This includes cradle-to-grave support for ground-based, high-altitude balloon, near-space, and spaceflight experiments and mission concepts. Responsibilities span concept development, requirements analysis and definition, modeling and simulation, design, assembly, integration and testing (AI&T), launch vehicle integration, ground system development and support, flight operations, user segment support, data acquisition, post-experiment analysis, technical reporting, technology transition, and decommissioning.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or another technical field from an accredited university.
  • Over 10 years of program management experience supporting DoD and major space systems/programs
  • Proven leadership and high-level management capabilities
  • Strong ability to prioritize, schedule, and manage tasks efficiently
  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in risk management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in cost control and budgeting
  • Collaborative team player with strong motivational skills
  • Highly organized with exceptional multitasking abilities
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or another technical field from an accredited university.
  • Program Management Professional certification equivalent to Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level III in Program Management and/or Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering (SPRDE), with demonstrated commitment to continued professional education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Program Manager will oversee and coordinate several projects, products, and strategic initiatives
  • Manage the interdependencies among projects, offering guidance to project managers, and facilitating communication between different project teams
  • Organizing daily activities based on the goals of the organization
  • Manage and prepare Monthly Status Reports, Scientific and Technical Reports, Test/Inspection Reports, Systems Engineering Management Plans, Technical and Management Work Plans, reviews of tech briefs and other report contributions when requested
  • Devise new programs that support the organization’s objectives
  • Develop budgets and plans for the program
  • Monitor projects and overseeing project managers to ensure goals are met
  • Responsible for overseeing all aspects of TO execution.
  • Be the main point of contact for the Government Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) and the Contracting Officer (CO).
  • Manage procurement of materials, flight hardware and software in support of missions
  • Support organic contract growth and other related growth opportunities of the company
