Responsibilities

Perform budget analysis to guide external spend management and outside counsel relationships across domestic and international businesses; create and maintain an analytical and competitive budget reporting framework across 500+ domestic and international firms; correlate spend data and reporting results for outside counsel programs with the broader initiatives of the legal affairs program; develop and apply financial costs and budget models to track actual versus planned costs and savings across all areas of outside counsel transactions; develop, run, and analyze competitive and non-competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) models for procurement across multiple legal and professional service vendors; collaborate with internal Legal teams and stakeholders in Finance, Procurement, and Global Information Security (GIS) to review financial status of ongoing projects; analyze and summarize finance data, legal fees, and law firm utilization rates across practice areas; facilitate competitive analysis of high-spend matter areas for the Outside Counsel Partner Program; evaluate, revise, and implement billing guidelines and rules for all outside counsel; partner with GIS and Privacy departments to conduct annual reviews of outside counsel based on reported business and financial metrics; determine and adjust as necessary the financial framework for the Outside Counsel Partner Program; prepare budget and billing recaps for strategic special projects; collaborate with outside counsel on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) goals and conduct analysis to ensure progress within established budget, timeline, and outside counsel DEI metrics. (Position allows some work-from-home flexibility, with schedule to be approved by manager. Must be able to work on site as required.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related role in financial, budget, or business analysis.
  • Experience must include:
    • budget forecasting and analysis with Tableau, Power BI, and matter management systems;
    • legal, business or finance project management at Fortune 500 or highly matrixed organization;
    • cross-functional collaboration with finance teams to analyze and report on budget/accruals;
    • sourcing and procurement of domestic and international legal services and vendor management;
    • structuring RFPs protocols based on financial data, fees, and utilization rates across practice areas;
    • change management, data collection, and analysis; and
    • implementation of counsel billing guidelines and rule-making for conflict waivers, privacy, data and records retention, and cybersecurity.

The base salary for this position in Burbank, CA is $139,725 to $167,500. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
