Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I in the Office of Native American Affairs within the Directorate Division, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) serves as a subject matter expert in Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP), and acts as liaison for tribal families, tribal governments, and law enforcement agencies requesting assistance with MMIP-related cases that are under current investigation. Assignments may cover a variety of areas, including gathering statistical data, reviewing regulatory language, complex policy, and operational analysis in the development of reports, communications, and procedures regarding statutes, and both state and federal law. The AGPA performs duties that require independence of action, analysis, professionalism, political acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure.

Working Conditions

This position has been designated as eligible for telework and is currently a remote-centered position. The position may however require in-person attendance when requested. The selected candidate would report to Department of Justice headquarters in Sacramento if/when required to attend mandated in-person meetings, trainings, etc. Expenses related to travel to the office for required events are the responsibility of the employee. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.

Please note that all new to state employees will be given the minimum salary of the classification. For current state employees and/or those with reinstatement rights, your salary will be determined in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
