Position: Director | Business Operations
Reports to: Administrator/CEO
Location: This is a full time, on-site position in Boscobel, WI.
We’re seeking a Director of Business Operations to join our senior leadership team at Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics, which is undergoing a remarkable cultural transformation—where patient and employee satisfaction are at all-time highs.
Position Summary:
As Director of Business Operations, you will oversee a portfolio of departments including:
- Human Resources
- Employee Health Services
- Purchasing
- Environmental Services (EVS)
- Marketing
- Foundation
- Quality
- Infection Prevention
This role is all about leading people, fostering relationships, and removing barriers so your teams can thrive. You’ll directly supervise two managers and one contracted service, with a total downline of approximately 16–20 employees.
What you’ll do:
- Serve as a strategic partner on the senior leadership team, contributing to long-term planning and the development of new service lines.
- Cultivate strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to support shared community events and initiatives.
- Act as a connector and advocate—supporting recruitment, enhancing employee engagement, and ensuring operational alignment with the hospital’s mission.
- Participate in administrative call rotation (~1 week/month), providing phone-based support and troubleshooting for staff.
- In partnership with medical and administrative leadership, lead in the following areas:
- Organizational Strategy & Implementation: Recognize market trends, assess their impact, contribute to strategic planning, and ensure alignment and commitment across all areas of responsibility.
- Fiscal Management: Ensure accountability and effective resource utilization through established operational and financial processes.
- Human Resource Management: Select, develop, motivate, and retain a high-performing team using proven HR practices.
- Excellence in Service & Clinical Quality: Drive seamless, high-quality patient care, safety, and exceptional service experiences.
- Organizational Leadership: Model collaboration and integration across departments to achieve shared goals and inspire excellence.
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience leading system-level operations, ideally in healthcare.
- Experience in critical access hospitals (CAH) or within a larger health system is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead through influence, inspire teams, and drive cultural transformation.
- A forward-thinking mindset—able to anticipate future needs and opportunities.
