Physical Requirements
The physical requirements of this position include: regularly lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects 50lbs and above; occasionally sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with repetitive motions (such as typing); regular risk of back injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; regular exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens; and occasional exposure to combative/violent people.
Shift
Primarily day shift. Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 6:00PM.
Job Summary
The University of Kentucky Healthcare (UKHC) Enterprise is seeking an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Resident.
This residency position involves both learning as well as treating patients. The Physical Therapist Resident will provide direct patient care while adhering to the policies and procedures of UKHC and in accordance with state and federal regulations.
This position will perform physical therapy evaluations and render physical therapy treatments following a physician’s order; treat patients with a variety of diagnoses; and perform appropriate documentation in the medical record.
This position will be for a one-year Residency term and will begin at either Cardinal Hill or Turfland. After a 6-month period, this position will rotate to the alternate location. Once a 12-month residency has been completed, the program will conclude.
This position will start on 08/25/2025 and conclude in 08/31/2026.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will have an orthopedic and manual therapy background; direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet; ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with patients and their families, co-workers and physicians; and strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
