Job Purpose

Welldoc is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Health & Wellness Behavior Change Specialist to play a key role in developing and optimizing our digital health applications. You will leverage your expertise in fitness and health coaching to create engaging and effective app features that empower users to adopt and maintain positive lifestyle changes in areas such as nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management with particular focus on use of GLP-1 medications. You will be instrumental in shaping the user experience and ensuring our apps are not only user-friendly but also clinically sound and behaviorally effective.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement features that promote user engagement, adherence, and long-term behavior maintenance particularly for those on or having discontinued a GLP-1 medication.
  • Collaborate with product and marketing teams and clinical experts to define user needs and translate them into intuitive and engaging app features.
  • Apply principles of behavioral science and health coaching to design app functionalities that promote positive behavior change and adherence to health plans.
  • Contribute to the visual design and user interface (UI) of the app.
  • Contribute to the development of evidence-based content and resources within the app.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in digital health, mobile app design, and behavioral science and participate in competitive intelligence research.
  • Contribute to moderation of user community.
  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous health coaching to a panel of users.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, internally and/or externally, and share learnings within functional group, core team, or full company meetings as appropriate.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience with GLP-1 medications (ideally 2+ years) and lifestyle changes to support their effectiveness.
  • Proven experience (ideally 2+ years) in fitness and/or health coaching, with a strong understanding of behavior change theories and motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Some experience working on or contributing to the development of mobile applications (e.g., providing input on features, user testing, understanding of the development lifecycle).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • High energy, self-starter with a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and with a genuine passion for helping people improve their health and well-being.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with Figma, Overflow, JIRA, Confluence. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with gamification principles and their application in health and wellness. (preferred)
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing. (preferred)

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, Behavioral Science, Health Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Nationally recognized health coaching certification, e.g., National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), ACE, NASM, ACSM.

Compensation & Benefits

Welldoc offers a competitive compensation package which, in addition to salary, includes generous PTO, medical insurance, dental insurance, vision care, life and disability insurance, retirement benefits. and the opportunity to participate in health savings accounts and/or dependent care accounts. While the anticipated salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $90,000/year with the expectation that most candidates will fall around the midpoint of the range. Exceptional candidates may exceed the range if education and experience warrant.

Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment, you may be required to complete and clear a multi-panel drug screening process. This screening is in connection with requirements set by certain of the Company’s customers, with which you may be working in this role, and will at all times be administered all applicable laws.
