The School of Business, Education, and Health Sciences at the Long Beach Community College District is seeking highly-qualified individuals to be our Instructional Laboratory Coordinator! These incumbents will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and overseeing the day-today activities of the Nursing and Allied Health Learning Center, instructional study spaces and computer lab. Incumbents develop and maintain a library of learning resource materials, both in print and electronic formats and assist students with accessing information to meet their needs. This person will work with faculty and staff to provide educational materials and nursing and allied health specific software and computer resources for students. Additional responsibilities include proctoring exams and monitoring the nursing and allied health computer lab. Some responsibilities include handling social media and advertising events and job opportunities for students and graduates. This person would also participate and direct campus outreach activities and maintain cooperative relationships with campus community, external groups and alumni. We are looking for someone who provides day-to-day operational support and work with staff and faculty to ensure a high-performance, student centered work environment which supports program objectives and educational success. The ideal candidate should have a knowledge of science and/or nursing and be familiar with nursing and allied health programs. AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION

  • Type of position: Full time (40 hours/week); 11 months (off in July)
  • Position Status: Permanent
  • Schedule: Typically, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with ability to flex schedule until 7pm and for occasional Saturday shift
  • Location: LAC Campus
  • Salary: Range 35, $5,864.33 - $7,228.63 /Monthly
  • Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications.
  • Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under direction, coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operations and activities of assigned learning centers and instructional laboratories; provides technical assistance to students performing research and accessing instructional resources; and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Instructional Laboratory Coordinators are responsible for organizing, coordinating and overseeing the day-today activities of assigned learning centers and/or instructional laboratories. Incumbents develop and maintain a library of learning resource materials and assist students in accessing information to meet their needs. Work assigned requires a detailed knowledge of subject areas applicable to assigned program responsibilities and the ability to assist in providing instruction to others in an effective manner.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in education or a field relevant to job assignment and two (2) years of instructional support experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.
