Project Manager, Practice Technology

The Practice Technology Project Manager will play a crucial role in advancing the Firm’s technology and innovation strategy, particularly in the areas of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and blockchain technologies. This specialised role requires a strong technical acumen and a thorough understanding of W&C practices.

The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating and tracking projects, focusing on various use cases pursued by the Practice Technology group. This includes managing the intake process for solution use cases, capturing requirements, criteria, data flow, and testing protocols. General project management skills are essential, as is the ability to multi-task across several initiatives. The role involves coordinating with case teams to ensure effective use case processes and outcomes, documenting recommended changes for successful repeatability, and preparing necessary documentation.

The Project Manager will also liaise with service and consultancy partners, assisting in prioritising projects from initiation through to outcome and assessment stages. Regular updates to the Practice Technology Programmes team will be required, along with performing tasks as requested by the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with W&C practice groups to understand legal workflows and identify opportunities for technology to enhance day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinating with the internal Practice Technology team and vendors to support and oversee the development of use cases.
  • Preparing recommendations, budgets, and project plans for use case development.
  • Communicating progress on use cases with practice groups.
  • Reporting project status to case teams, senior team members, and management.
  • Tracking, analysing, and triaging data received from practice groups and vendors.
  • Performing other duties necessary and essential to support the firm's strategic technology goals.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support projects.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; a legal or technical degree is preferred, with 5+ years of Legal Technology experience or an advanced degree (e.g., law degree)
  • Familiarity with cloud solutions, GenAI, coding, and prompting is a strong plus
  • Strong academic record with intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, and commercial and business awareness, with the ability to see the big picture
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and presentation skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients, colleagues, and vendors
  • Highly developed organisational skills, attention to detail, and strong time management skills; able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while maintaining professionalism and client service orientation
  • Flexibility to switch between hybrid and full in-office schedules as required by the firm, and to service multiple regions to support ongoing project needs, including domestic and international travel
  • Driven by professional growth with a strong professional presence, client service focus, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with strong judgement, proactive, resourceful, and takes initiative
  • Experience working in a professional services environment with good systems and database skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM applications

Location and Reporting

This role is based in our London office and reports to the Program Manager, Practice Technology.

Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week.
