Job Description:
The Training Manager – Truss Driver Maintenance is a senior-level technical expert and educator responsible for designing, delivering, and managing training programs that ensure field technicians, mechanics, and site support teams are highly skilled in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Nextracker’s proprietary Truss Driver system. This customized drill rig utilizes advanced automation and controls for utility-scale solar foundation installation. The Training Manager partners with cross-functional teams—Machine Engineering, Truss Driver Fleet Maintenance, and Field Applications Engineering—to ensure technical excellence, safety compliance, and workforce capability across all field deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Development
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs covering troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of Nextracker’s Truss Driver machines and auxiliary support equipment.
- Lead both classroom-based and hands-on technical training at remote field sites, training facilities, and virtually.
- Create technical training materials including manuals, videos, SOPs, checklists, and troubleshooting guides tailored to different learner levels.
- Evaluate trainee competencies through assessments, hands-on demonstrations, and follow-up audits; issue certifications as appropriate.
- Create certification program for both internal and external mechanics
Technical Leadership
- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) in diagnostics and repair of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical subsystems, including CANBUS, encoders, linear transducers, diesel engines, GPS systems, and PLCs.
- Lead root cause analyses of recurring mechanical issues and provide structured feedback to product and machine development teams.
- Work closely with Field Applications Engineering and Truss Driver Engineering teams to implement lessons learned from the field into product and process improvements.
- Support customer and third-party mechanics with advanced technical assistance and training as needed.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Enforce adherence to Nextracker’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards within all training activities.
- Model best practices for safe machine operation, field service, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure training curriculum aligns with OSHA, MSHA, and other relevant industry regulations.
Operational Oversight
- Assist in onboarding new technical team members and ensure they meet the required competencies before field deployment.
- Track and report training effectiveness, skill gaps, and equipment service quality metrics to leadership.
- Occasionally assist with complex field repairs or machine commissioning in support of high-priority projects.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a growing team of field trainers, technical instructors, and junior mechanics by establishing clear training standards, goals, and performance benchmarks.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, safety, and technical excellence across Nextracker’s field operations teams.
- Serve as a strategic partner to Fleet Operations, Machine Engineering, and Field Applications Engineering by aligning training initiatives with evolving product and operational needs.
- Build and maintain a strong feedback loop between field teams and engineering to drive data-informed decisions, product refinements, and service quality improvements.
- Coordinate with project site leadership and subcontractors to ensure alignment on personnel readiness, onboarding processes, and performance expectations.
- Champion a high-performance, solution-oriented environment by coaching team members through complex technical challenges, conflict resolution, and professional development.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or trades certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance; drill rigs or automated construction systems preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in technical training, field supervision, technical writing, or instructional design.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical/control systems (CANBUS, PLCs, sensors, etc.).
- Skilled in welding, fabrication, and field diagnostics (CAT/Cummins diagnostics a plus).
- Strong communicator with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital training tools (e.g., LMS, remote instruction platforms).
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
- Valid driver’s license required; ability to travel up to 75% of the time

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position is $95,000.00-$120,000.00
