The Janitor performs routine cleaning and custodial maintenance duties. Expectations are that this position is 90% janitorial and 10% facilities maintenance.
- Follows and completes the cleaning check off sheets.
- Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. Also maintains the floors Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. Occasionally steam-cleans or shampoos carpets in the office area.
- Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. Mixes water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to manufacturer's specifications.
- Gathers and empties trash throughout the facility.
- Services, cleans, and supplies the restrooms.
- Dusts, cleans and polish furniture, walls, equipment and fixtures.
- Clean windows and mirrors using appropriate cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Drive forklift, golf or hand cart to transport supplies, trash, etc.
- Maintains outer appearance of the main buildings.
- Performs facility updates including painting, changing ceiling tiles, replacing light bulbs, or light bathroom maintenance.
- Covers surfaces with drop cloths, or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
- Fills cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives. Smooths surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines. Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
- Inspects grounds, facilities, and equipment routinely to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance.
- Monitors supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Reads work orders or receive instructions from management or maintenance to determine work requirements.
- Performs other tasks as instructed by supervision.

- Must be able to work 2nd Shift schedule.
- Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to speak effectively with supervisors and other employees.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to use hand tools and cleaning machinery.

- The employee must regularly liftand/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
