Job Overview:

The primary responsibility of Machine Operator is to setup, maintain and operate machinery. They must be technically inclined and be able to properly utilize tools and machinery. Additionally, they must be able to analyze situations and find solutions if any issues arise. The machine operator must report all necessary information to their manager and supervisor about any concerns or malfunctions which may interfere with operations or the safety of personnel within the area.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning daily.
  • Conduct inspections and identify any failures that require monitoring or repair.
  • Troubleshoot and repair the machine if any errors arise during the shift.
  • Report to your supervisor and mechanic/technician if larger repairs need to be conducted on an equipment.
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed).
  • Understanding of production procedures.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and specifications.
  • Good understanding of safety concepts/procedures.
  • Understanding the basic controls (start, stop, etc.), sensors, etc.

Preferred Education, Experience and Licenses:

  • Knowledge typical of 1-2 years of industry experience.
  • Trade school diploma or industry certifications are a plus.

Physical Environment/Occupational Risks

  • Warehouse Environment
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Frequent use of hand tools such as power tools, hammers, nails, and bolts.
