Description

Assist the Durango Public Library team by checking in, organizing, and re-shelving Library materials as a part-time Materials Handler.

Essential Job Duties

What You’ll Do in This Role:

  • Provide friendly, proactive, and knowledgeable assistance to Library patrons.
  • Sort and shelve Library materials.
  • Ensure that materials are shelved in their proper order.
  • Answer basic directional questions from the public, and otherwise referring patrons to the appropriate service desk for further assistance.
  • Adhere to Library policies and procedures.
  • Assist in providing a secure environment for patrons, staff, and library materials.
  • May answer the Library telephone and direct calls.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

You Have:

  • Minimum of two years high school education.
  • Commitment to delivering position, friendly customer service.
  • Basic understanding of the Dewey Decimal System and the alphabet.
  • Ability to receive and follow oral and written instructions.
  • An awareness of the purposes and functions of the public library and the ability to learn routine library procedures.
