Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Airbus Helicopters for a Chemist or Material Engineer (f/m) to join the Surface Technologies team in Materials, Processes and Test Department in Paris Le Bourget.
As a member of the paints, coatings & organic protections team, you will join a transnational unit, supporting all helicopter programs from research to in service.
More particularly you will be in charge of organic protection systems for composite and metallic parts (pore-filler, primer, top-coat, functional coatings, adhesive tapes, … ).
For this position, you will interface with various internal and external partners (other M&P métiers, design office, work-preparation, sub-contractors, suppliers, paint-shop, customer service, etc.).
We are looking for talented candidate who can reinforce our team by bringing his.her experience, while making the difference through proven interpersonal and collaboration skills.
The job is available in Paris-Le Bourget, you will also have a flexible approach to travelling to other company sites and customers when required.
The job holder will report to the head of the functional department.
Your Main Responsibilities
You will like working with us, as you will be able to work autonomously on several topics, developing yourself and being responsible for:
❏ Developing and deploying Materials, Processes and Test Technologies for paints, coatings and organic protections for composite and metallic parts
❏ Managing the planning and execution of test programs, according to Airbus Helicopters processes
❏ Specifying and verifying materials and processes performance and quality data
❏ Establishing all relevant technical and qualification documents as well as material and process specifications
❏ Contributing to the technology development and ensuring engineering validation for implementation
❏ Providing tailored protections and requirements based on in-service experience
❏ Supporting the local production needs
❏ Managing paints/coatings related non-conformities through deep analysis and adequate answers
❏ Understanding, treating and answering to the local internal customer requests
❏ Exchanging with materials supplier to ensure appropriate material development and qualification products (mainly paint and adhesive tapes supplier).
Who We Are Looking For
We look for a highly skilled and dynamic profile, able to bring his.her energy and expertise into the Airbus Helicopters M&P universe.
As such:
❏ You have a master degree or PhD in materials science, polymer coating, chemistry or a related discipline
❏ Experience in Material and Processes and/or in paint formulation
❏ Knowledge of surface treatments coatings and paints, their application to various materials and role
❏ Project management
❏ You are a highly engaged person with a great sense of initiative, credibility, autonomy and integrity
❏ You show strong relationship building, communication, interpersonal and networking skills
❏ You have a customer-oriented mind-set
❏ Fluent in French, your English is at negotiating level, additional language skills in German are considered a plus.
