Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges—the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.
As a Capabilities & Insights Analyst or Junior Capabilities & Insights Analyst with the Semiconductor Practice, you will collaborate with McKinsey consultants in a fast-paced environment to conduct comprehensive research in response to specific requests.
You will research, analyze, and synthesize key client questions, identifying data, information, and analyses to support problem-solving efforts and targeted industry research, including market developments, competition, corporate strategies, and technology trends. You will present findings through McKinsey-formatted end-products, including models, presentations, and written communications. You will proactively develop and codify knowledge on new and emerging topics relevant to McKinsey and our clients in the industry, alongside your research colleagues worldwide. You will serve as a thought partner to consulting teams and clients.
You will be based in Tokyo, Japan, as a member of McKinsey's Advanced Industries (AI) Sector. Within this sector, you will join a global team of over 60 professionals specializing in Semiconductor, Industrials & Electronics, Automotive & Assembly, and Aerospace & Defense. Team members are located worldwide, including in Germany, the United States, India, Japan, Korea, and China. Each team member focuses on specific domains or topic areas, allowing them to deepen their expertise and effectively serve both clients and McKinsey’s client service teams.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to focus on topics within the Semiconductor domain. Analysts in our Semiconductor Practice support consulting teams and clients across the entire semiconductor value chain, including capital equipment manufacturers, fabless companies, integrated device manufacturers, foundry companies, and related players. You will contribute to the market research engine of a global management consulting firm dedicated to helping organizations create impactful change and addressing their most challenging operational and strategic needs.
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won’t find anywhere else.
