JOB SUMMARY

Perform duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the facility in good repair and a safe working condition. Performs maintenance and urgent corrective and routine repairs for minor electrical, mechanical, Medgas, HVAC and plumbing systems and other duties as requested.

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED);

Minimum Work Experience

  • Two years related experience and/or training.

Required Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions

  • Assists with maintaining the preventive maintenance program(s) on minor electrical, mechanical, Medgas,
  • HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.
  • Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of minor electrical, mechanical, Medgas, HVAC and plumbing systems as required.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation, disassembles equipment to repair and/or replace defective parts, and/or tests equipment to ensure devices are in good operation order in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, blueprints and manufactures’ specifications.
  • Ability to do work on his/her own to inspect facilities and equipment.
  • A working knowledge of fire alarm and signal systems.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of how to use and maintain plant tools and equipment and sites are left clean and tools are returned to the maintenance shop.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and is able to identify each patient's age specific needs to promote a safe environment needed by the patient group.
  • Cooperates with supervisors, department heads and works well with staff.
  • Ability to be organized and flexible in stressful and emergency situations and to do work on his/her own with minimal supervision.
