TxDOT's Austin District Portfolio Office is looking for two Transportation Engineers II, III, or IV positions locate at the District Headquarters. This position will involve active roadway design and project management for internally developed and consultant managed projects. Some of these projects will consist of complex urban and rural safety improvement projects, infrastructure, and mobility projects, as well as innovative intersection improvements, main lane widening, retaining wall design, freeway ramp reversals, bridge replacements and complex drainage projects.
Primary job duties for this position include supporting project managers and the office design staff with:
Applicants should have a working knowledge of computer aided drafting operations, specifically Bentley / MicroStation Open Roads Designer (ORD) CAD software, plans preparation and be able to assist with active CAD design of internally developed roadway and multi-modal transportation engineering projects. Applicants should also have some consultant management experience in roadway design.

This position is for TWO Transportation Engineer, II, III or IV. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level, and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.
Salary Plan/Grade:
Transportation Engineer II: B25 ($82,000.00 - $95,000.00/yearly)
Transportation Engineer III: B26 ($90,750.00 - $107,000.00/yearly)
Transportation Engineer IV: B27 ($98,250.00 - $115,000.00/yearly)

This position performs complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
Experience*:
Transportation Engineer II: 5 YEARS engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer II: 6 YEARS engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer II: 7 YEARS engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
(Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
