The Key Account Manager is responsible for driving a highly complex, multi-departmental, hospital sales from the introduction of new diagnostic concepts through closure and implementation. You will work throughout the entire hospital to ensure Cepheid products and services are known in every key department. This will include the laboratory, infection control, quality assurance, hospital administration, executive staff, and physicians to develop needs, gain consensus, and close new business.

This position is part of the Sales department in Iberia, it is a Field-based role, and as such must be located in the assigned territory, ideally in Barcelona or Cataluna.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage and grow all Cepheid business and coordinate all associated company activity within an assigned geography for both customer accounts and prospect accounts including, but not limited to, hospitals, private laboratories, and support of channel partners. Work closely with the Sales Manager, Territory Managers, Marketing and the other relevant internal stakeholders (FAS, CS, etc.) to design and execute adequate sales activities to achieve and exceed the country targets.
  • Develop demand for, and adoption of, new assays and instrumentation, as well as expand the existing one through key innovative projects applying strategic mindset. Lead complex deals to gain new customers and expand the existing number of accounts, from prospecting to closed won.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships throughout the hospital from administration to bench technicians.
  • Promote systems and reagents acquisition through different purchase models, including tender process and direct negotiation with private customers and/or purchasing groups.
  • Manage Tender process negotiations at Hospital and regional level.
  • Manage contract compliance, Funnel management and market trends. Delivers monthly reports and quarterly sales plan updates.
  • Deliver presentations and proposals. Host and assist with trade shows.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Master’s degree in biology or medical related university degrees.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a commercial role in MedTech or Pharma industry.
  • Able to being energized in a highly competitive market.
  • Self-motivating and able to successfully perform in his/her responsibilities with minimal guidance.
  • Fluent in business English.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Sales in the Molecular Diagnostics industry.
  • Knowledge in Point of Care testing.
  • Clinicians engagement.
