As an Environmental Coordinator, your key responsibility will be to coordinate and maintain Michels’ environmental program, including educational training. This position will focus on proactive environmental compliance and risk management (e.g., air, water, waste, biodiversity) for Michels operations and our construction projects. You will review and prepare permits and compliance plans, collect and analyze multi-media sampling, perform environmental observations and audits, and track and manage regulatory reporting requirements. This role will also support Michels’ sustainability program.

What it takes:

  • Prefer Bachelor or Associate degree with emphasis in environmental studies, natural sciences, engineering, or related field. Advanced training or education in environmental or Technical Field, with equivalent years may be acceptable.
  • 1-5 years of environmental or related experience.
  • Knowledgeable with environmental compliance topics and applicable regulations, including but not limited to storm water best management, process water control, waste storage and disposal, general air compliance, and fuel storage.
  • Preference with experience in aggregates, portable batch plants, crushing, and highway
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. With strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable presenting technical subject matter, communicating effectively to different audience types.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required, with preference for Advanced Excel expertise.
  • Preference with experience in ArcGIS.
  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team.
  • Travel 30% to 50% in Midwest US states.
  • Required to adhere to extended periods of time standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting (up to 25 lbs).
