Position Title: Route Supervisor - Field Trips

Division: Operations/Transportation

Reports To: Director, Transportation

FLSA Status: Exempt

Essential Duties:

  1. Plan, coordinate, and recommend the most economical, efficient, and safest bus routes and bus stops.
  2. Periodically ride routes, investigate concerns regarding bus routes, and respond accordingly.
  3. Monitor bus assignments to ensure that they do not exceed capacity and that bus loads are balanced to the best possible extent.
  4. Assist in maintaining records by updating information as needed for the proper operation of the Edulog Boundary/Transportation System.
  5. Assist the Executive Director and Director of Transportation in responding to any transportation-related concern from drivers, parents, and students.
  6. Prepare necessary route information for all drivers for the beginning of each school year.
  7. Assist the Executive Director of Transportation with annual evaluation of bus drivers.
  8. Serve as a substitute bus driver when needed.
  9. Work with school personnel regarding student management issues, including pulling and reviewing bus videos.
  10. Periodically observe bus loading, unloading, and parking at selected schools.
  11. Perform annual skill evaluations for each assigned driver.
  12. Assist the Executive Director in preparing the State Transportation Survey.
  13. Assist with retraining of bus drivers.
  14. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of a High School Diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE), required; college or technical school diploma, preferred.
  2. Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements required at the time of employment.
  3. Minimum of three years of successful bus driving experience.
  4. Ability to pass annual physical required.
  5. Experience working with the Edulog software or other comparable transportation technology.
  6. Experience working in a public school transportation department, preferred.
  7. Experience planning and coordinating transportation routes, preferred.
  8. Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  9. Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  10. Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  11. Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  12. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  13. Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  14. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
  15. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
