Mine Operators – Entry Level
About the role
Assessment Centre taking place Tuesday 8th July in Weipa!
We have entry level mining positions currently available and are seeking applications from Local Aboriginal & First Nations people to join our business. You will work as part of our Mine Development or Production team, operating 776D Haul Trucks with further training available on other machinery over time. Full on-the-job training will be provided. This is a fantastic opportunity for people with a strong work ethic, commitment to learning and a ‘can do’ attitude.
Positions are available at both Northern or Southern Operations, working either a rotating 4/5/5 day/night or 7/7 day/night shift roster, giving you more time for the things that are important to you outside of work. We have options to suit your lifestyle and goals, at Andoom (Northern Operations) you’ll be home after each shift and for roles based at Amrun (Southern Operations) you will stay at our camp during shift and commute back to Weipa on days off, with an additional allowance to compensate you for time away from home.
You’ll be part of an inclusive team, supported by your Supervisor to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team.
Successful Candidates will enter a job ready pool of Operators, ready to be placed into vacancies either at Andoom or Amrun.

Where you will be working
Our Weipa Operations includes two bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tonnes of bauxite.
Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce—including 30 per cent who are women and 32 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.
The development of Amrun mine, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
