Job Title: Welder

Job Description

As a Welder, you will work from blueprints and use fixtures to assemble frames, bodies, and some machinable parts. You will set up face blocks, jigs, and fixtures as needed, locate and mark centerlines and reference points, and transpose them to workpieces. Your role involves positioning and aligning parts, removing high spots, and cutting bevels.

Responsibilities

  • Set up face blocks, jigs, and fixtures as needed.
  • Locate and mark centerlines and reference points onto the floor or face block and transpose them to workpieces.
  • Move parts into position and align them for welding or riveting.
  • Remove high spots and cut bevels to ensure proper alignment.
  • Position or tighten braces, clamps, ropes, or bolts to secure parts.
  • Use numerous fixtures, clamps, bolts, hand tools, measuring devices, arc welders, MIG welders, hand grinders, burning torches, and gas welders.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Function as a team member and maintain a respectful workplace.
  • Adhere to EEO guidelines and principles.
  • Report for work on time, ready to perform assigned duties.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as directed or assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in MIG welding, TIG welding, and flux core welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints efficiently and accurately.
  • Skilled in using fixtures, clamps, bolts, and hand tools.
  • Proficient in using measuring devices, arc welders, MIG welders, hand grinders, burning torches, and gas welders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to complete .045 E71-T, FCAW, 3G Vertical, and .045 E308-L, MIG, 2G Horizontal Weld Certification tests.
  • Ability to use a tape measure accurately.
  • Ability to produce assigned work within the allotted time.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of apprenticeship or on-the-job training, or a trade or technical school certificate/diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

The work environment involves working near moving mechanical parts and being exposed to fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally, you may be exposed to cold or hot, humid conditions. The noise level is usually loud, requiring hearing protection.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $26.32/hr.
