Product Owner

Job Description

The Product Owner will be responsible for defining and prioritizing the Portuguese localization backlog, working closely with analysts, developers, content, and compliance stakeholders. This role demands a deep understanding of ERP systems, local tax/reporting obligations, and the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product increments.

This is a hybrid role – three days per week in our Porto office.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you'll:

• Own and manage the Portugal localization backlog
• Prioritize features based on regulatory impact, market value, and effort
• Define user stories and acceptance criteria in collaboration with Business Analysts
• Coordinate with central and local teams to ensure cross-functional alignment
• Lead sprint planning and delivery cycles with development teams
• Represent Portuguese regulatory and user needs within the broader Sage Active roadmap
• Support go-to-market activities and ensure readiness for tax authority certification and customer adoption

Essential experience:

• Proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in ERP or financial software
• Deep understanding of Portuguese fiscal and accounting legislation
• Excellent stakeholder management and prioritization skills
• Experience working in Agile development teams
• Fluency in Portuguese and advanced English

Desirable experience:

• Previous experience localizing financial systems
• Understanding of SAF-T (PT) structures and e-invoicing regulations
• Background in accounting or tax compliance
