JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum, administration, professional learning, or a related field.
Masters preferred. Holder of the L-5 certificate in administration and supervision and possess or is actively pursuing the L-6 certificate in leadership.
Certification or Licensure: Possession of a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate is desirable.
Skills: Thorough knowledge of best practices based on national, state, and local standards governing educational institutions. Ability to collect, analyze, and use data to plan for improvements. Ability to support the school system’s vision and mission, promote open communication, and collaboratively solve problems based on best practices. Possess excellent verbal, written, and technology skills necessary to communicate expectations, comprehensive reports, and presentations.
Work Experience: Completion of five years of successful teaching experience.
PRIMARY DUTY:This position is responsible for directing and managing the Teaching and Learning Department to include the total instructional program for grades PK-12 under the direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning. Designs and plans professional learning needs for staff as it relates to the curriculum. Maintains a focus on instructional best practices, program evaluation, and assessment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists in the planning, implementation, and supervision of the PK-12 curriculum.
2. Directs, coordinates, and supervises the work and support of curriculum specialists in assigned subject areas. 3. Assists with activities for the continuous program of curriculum improvement in grades PK-12 including providing resources needed by school staff and/or students and parents.
4. Assists the school’s leadership staff whenever feasible in the implementation of elementary, middle, or high school programs, especially in assigned content areas.
5. Facilitates the selection, implementation, and monitoring of the school system’s Universal Screener data, intervention selection, and MTSS core instruction support.
6. Evaluate curriculum, assessment, and professional learning programs to determine effectiveness.
7. Prepares and provides updated, timely statistical reports regarding student performance data, i.e., content mastery assessments, universal screeners, and pre and post-assessments.
8. Assists school leaders and content specialists in reviewing data to determine curriculum adjustments and teacher training needs.
9. Coordinates and provides teacher training as needed.
10. Encourages schools to study assessment data and provides assistance in the development of school improvement plans when requested by schools.
11. Promotes and coordinates research and development in curriculum organization and instructional techniques; maintains and follows the curriculum management plan.
12. Communicates with professionals and the public regarding teaching and learning.
13. Assists in the formulation of policies relating to the improvement of the curriculum and the instructional program and in the successful execution of them.
14. Assists in the development of proposals addressing instructional needs and in directing and evaluating of the progress of the proposed projects and pilot programs.
15. Works cooperatively with other cross-functional departments and community partners concerning instructional and assessment related activities.
16. The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law, board policy, administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Travel as required to local schools on a frequent and unscheduled basis.
