Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Technician who is passionate about promoting a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of all employees by implementing and overseeing safety protocols within our facility.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarize yourself with the facility layout and complete duties independently.
  • Coach non-English speaking vendors and technical advisors on regulatory requirements during equipment commissioning.
  • Master OHS processes and confidently use OHS equipment such as gas monitors and sound meters.
  • Conduct OHS audits and inspections for eyewash stations, emergency showers, and fire extinguishers.
  • Provide OHS training, orientations, and onboarding as needed.
  • Respond to incidents, implement containment actions, and gather information for investigations.
  • Independently investigate OHS incidents, identify corrective actions, and properly file reports.
  • Produce high-quality OHS Incident Reports and other necessary documentation.
  • Monitor processes for regulatory compliance and maintain base knowledge of industry standards.
  • Create OHS programs or training materials and assist in developing thorough training processes.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors, managers, and employees to support strategy implementation.
  • Spot, report, and prevent on-site incidents, ensuring clear communication with employees.
  • Write comprehensive OHS incident reports daily, monthly, and annually.
  • Familiarize yourself with various machines, equipment, and production processes.
  • Utilize Behavior Based Programs to promote proactive safety solutions.
  • Support the adoption of 6S practices across the plant.
  • Work effectively both in team settings and independently to reduce costs and add value.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by OHS management.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Fluent in English, with strong reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and create cohesion with team members.
  • Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity.
  • Professional and personable demeanor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • OSHA 10 hr. 30 certification preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is a very clean battery manufacturing facility. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including safety shoes, clean suits, dust masks or respirators, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, and hair nets. In some areas, a full Tyvek suit is necessary. Physical activities during the workday include sitting (45%), walking (30%), standing (20%), and occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
