Position Start Date: 1 July 2026

Required Degree: PhD preferred; MA or MEd with a focus on history teaching also considered.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: Continuing faculty status track appointment (BYU equivalent of "tenure") at Brigham Young University, to begin July 2026, for a specialist with expertise and experience in Social Science or History pedagogy/teaching. Those with research experience in social studies pedagogy, teaching social studies to diverse students, historical literacy, assessment in social studies, standards-based grading, problem-based learning, or preparing young people for civic engagement are encouraged to apply. Exceptional teaching ability is essential. Salary commensurate with experience and rank.

Duties/Expectations: Teaching load will include core courses and electives for history and social science teaching majors. The average teaching load will typically be 9 credit hours in the fall/winter and 3 credit hours in the spring or summer term. Teaching (including supervision of BYU students in public school classrooms) will be the primary task of the professional faculty member. The faculty member will assist with the administration of teaching majors.
