About the Role:

As our Public Relations Specialist, you’ll be a valued member of the Marketing Team. Your mission: help tell the story of South Dakota Mines through web content, social media, and features that spotlight our students, faculty, research, and campus life.

You’ll work alongside a collaborative, creative, and fun team that’s passionate about supporting a university of the rise. This is your chance to grow your career while working in a role where your voice, ideas, and creativity matter.

A bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, or related field with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience or a strong combination of education and experience is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Various social media platforms and current trends.
  • Digital marketing tools.
  • Content management systems.
  • Common computer applications like Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong understanding of English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Ability to:

  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships, interacting in a supportive manner with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others both in oral and written form.
  • Exercise tact, patience, respectfulness, and courteousness while providing excellent customer service.
  • Handle multiple tasks, prioritize accordingly, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Develop relevant content for public relations materials, university website, and social media.
  • Organize, coordinate, and prioritize editorial and social media schedules.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with staff at all levels in a team environment.
  • Remain flexible while juggling competing priorities and maintaining superior level of attention to detail.
