About The Position
The Technical Officer: Gold & Silversmithing is a member of the DSC Facilities and Technical Services team, responsible for delivering specialised technical support and expertise to staff and students across the College’s diverse programs, research initiatives, projects, events, and exhibitions. This role primarily supports Gold & Silversmithing activities within the School of Art, as well as other areas of the College.
The Technical Officer is expected to stay up to date with industry developments and provide innovative solutions to the complex challenges inherent in the creative arts. They will ensure that specialist facilities are maintained to the highest standards, complying with all relevant policies and legislation. Specific duties will be reviewed and agreed upon annually with the Manager, Technical Services, as part of the University’s work planning process.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
1.Proven high level of technical knowledge and expertise in the area of Gold & Silversmithing.
2.Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of learning and staff cohorts.
3.Demonstrated ability to problem solve and deliver innovative solutions to staff and students.
4.Strong organisational and time management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks and effective delivery of services.
5.Demonstrated knowledge and application of OH&S legislation and regulations, particularly regarding specialist spaces such as studios and workshops.
6.Demonstrated current information technology skills and knowledge.
7.Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively and flexibly as a member of a team and broader community.
