Adjunct Computer Technology Instructor
APPOINTMENT
Appointed by the Chancellor of the College upon recommendation of the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Adjunct instructors may be assigned classes at any of the four River Parishes Community College campuses (Gonzales, Reserve, Plaquemine, and St. Charles), as determined by student need and institutional demand. Teaching needs may include face-to-face/online and/or evening classes. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for timely and accurate submission of required documentation related to human resources and instruction.
No Civil Service test score or assessment is required to be considered for this vacancy.
The pay for the position is contingent upon the hours and classes assigned. Adjunct instructors are currently paid at the rate of $800 per credit hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science OR master’s degree with MS Office Certifications OR master’s degree with five years of teaching MS Office Suite at the college level. Official transcripts must be submitted.
- Satisfactory background check – an offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Proficiencies in classroom technologies (podium computer, laptop, iPad, and SMARTBoard) and use of Canvas LMS.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse student populations
Job Duties and Other Information
- Perform all instructional responsibilities in accordance with the role, scope, and mission of the College.
- Attend and provide meaningful instruction for all class sessions during the semester, adhering to the designated schedule of classes. Be punctual in class attendance and provide instruction for the complete class period. Make appropriate arrangements for necessary absences according to campus policies.
- Create and maintain an environment conducive to learning and one in which all students are treated equitably and with respect.
- Participate in the review, development, and revision of discipline-specific curriculum, as needed.
- Maintain accurate records (attendance, progress, and evaluation instruments) and meet required College deadlines (i.e. SH/NS, grade submission, learning outcomes assessment reporting, state mandated training, and textbook adoptions).
- Utilize technology as approved/required by the college (i.e. Student Information System, Learning Management System, discipline specific programs/platforms).
- Demonstrate commitment to effective communication by utilizing official tools for timely dissemination of information to students and supervisors, and by being proactive and responsive in addressing inquiries and needs from students and coworkers.
