QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge and the proper usage, spelling, and punctuation of both the English and Spanish languages; use and operation of a telephone switchboard system; standard office procedures and practices; word processing techniques; and computer software applications.
Must possess the skill to type/word process accurately at a rate required for successful job performance minimum 35 net wpm; operate standard office equipment; maintain routine records and files; efficiently operate a telephone switchboard system; understand and follow both oral and written directions; effectively and tactfully communicate in both oral and written forms in both English and Spanish; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required job duties.
Must possess the ability to receive incoming calls and route to proper stations; take telephone messages and distribute to appropriate office/personnel; schedule and reserve usage of meeting rooms; answer questions and provide information regarding school/District office standards, policies, and procedures; interpret and translate in Spanish and perform related duties as required.
One year of general clerical experience, preferably including some experience in the operation of a telephone switchboard with receptionist duties.
MUST PASS THE DISTRICT’S BILINGUAL CERTIFICATION TEST IN ORAL, READING AND WRITING PROFICIENCY IN SPANISH.
A RECENT TYPING CERTIFICATE MUST ACCOMPANY THE APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION: To operate a telephone switchboard system at a school site/District office; receive and route telephone calls to appropriate department; provide information to callers; greet and direct visitors to appropriate departments/personnel; and provide clerical support to other school district offices as assigned. Employees in this classification receive direct to general supervision from the school/District office administrator within a framework of well-defined policies and procedures. This job classification is responsible for the timely and accurate transferal of calls and messages to appropriate school/District office personnel and requires effective communication skills. Interprets orally and translates written material in Spanish as required.
STARTING SALARY: $3,153.40 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 11.5 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
