Associate Director – Commodities & Trade Finance, Structuring and Sales

Commonwealth Bank of Australia

About us:

Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing equities, markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers. This reinforces the Group’s purpose to improve the financial wellbeing of our customers and communities.

Our industry sector alignment, product capability, industry expertise and specialist skills are key points of differentiation to our global industry peers.

The Global Markets Commodity, Trade and Carbon business (CTC) within IB&M provides risk management, commodity and trade finance solutions for the Banks clients across metals & mining (precious metals, base metals & bulk commodities), oil, gas, carbon & agriculture.

The business works closely with the key industry sector teams particularly Natural Resources, Transport plus the Food, Beverage & Agriculture group where their clients have significant commodity price risk and financing needs to be supported.

Picture yourself in the team:

The CTC business plan focuses on aligning the business to focus on delivering a key product set to the Banks clients where we have a strategic advantage.

These clients may be producers, processors, traders or consumers of commodities, across metals, energy & agricultural products but also include Central Banks, MNCs, Financial Institutions & hedge funds.

CTC is unique in that the commodity and trade finance business sit alongside each other, giving us the opportunity to work with both trade and commodity finance products to help meet our client’s requirements.

Our objective is to be the preferred provider of commodity risk management and financing solutions to our clients. To achieve this we are focused on hiring the best people in order to bring a comprehensive understanding of commodity industries and markets.
