All while understanding that **together** we are even better. **Schedule:** Full Time, In Person, Days **Shift** : 36 hours per week, 6:30am-7:00pm for the Transfer Center **Location: 601 E ROLLINS ST, Orlando, 32803** **The community you’ll be caring for:** AdventHealth Orlando + Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando + Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America + AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country + We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year **The role you’ll contribute:** The Mission Control RN Tier 1 is a professional registered nurse functioning withing Mission Control in one of three primary roles. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: plan, prioritize, organize, direct and control all admissions and transfers between hospitals, departments and/or nursing units for AdventHealth. . The Mission Control RN is a highly trained professional with independent decision-making responsibilities, that must be applied based on telephone or electronic communication only. Utilizes complex acuity algorithms for time-sensitive medical events. Collaborates with physicians and departments within the Advent Health system as well as other facilities across the southeastern U.S. and internationally. Highly effective in critical clinical fact gathering and analysis, to identify appropriate levels of care, timely acceptance and specialty care needed for transport. Coordinates as an air traffic control for emergent and nonemergent transfers from all referring facilities. Acts as a liaison between referring hospitals, physicians, offices, and nursing department on issues pertaining to the transfer and placement of all patients. Proactively initiates steps, including utilization of the hospital and physician chain of command, to prevent EMTALA and Florida Access of Care violations. Adheres to the Advent Health Corporate Compliance Plan and to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service, phone etiquette and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. **The value you’ll bring to the team:** PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Patient Placement •Serves as resource for all patient placements within AdventHealth.(Teamwork) •Maintains a professional, collaborative and congenial rapport with internal and external contacts. (Integrity) •Makes all patient placement decisions in accordance with patient diagnosis, appropriate unit criterion, patient acuity and patient location. (Excellence) •Initiates, promotes and/or participates in interdisciplinary collaboration regarding patient placement. (Teamwork) •Identifies needs and operational improvement opportunities to improve patients' access and bed turnaround. (Excellence) •Supports and promotes excellence in customer/guest relations. (Compassion) •Supports, promotes and participates in community service activities. (Stewardship /Balance) •Serves as a single point of contact for all patient placements within AdventHealth. (Excellence) •Maintains communication with referring physicians and transferring hospitals regarding anticipated bed availability or access delays. (Excellence) •Evaluates all available hospital beds and develops contingency bed management plans with operational leaders to ensure daily operations are not interrupted. Reports any occurrences of interrupted operations to leaders.. (Excellence) •Responsible for patient placement operations within AdventHealth to ensure that patients are admitted or transferred between units or hospital in a timely manner in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, and according to diagnosis and level of care requirements. Escalates throughput barriers to leaders. (Stewardship) •Continuously re-evaluates patient placement requests and collaborates with campus operational leadership to adjust staffing to manage capacity demands. Leverage capacity across system to manage demand. (Stewardship) •Utilizes all electronic foundational resources and tools to efficiently maintain throughput across AdventHealth and sending facilities. •Multi-tasks using critical care thinking skills in a fast-paced, high-stress work environment •Functions as a mentor. Qualifications **The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed** **:** • Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse. Graduate of school of Nursing EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: •2 years minimum relevant acute care experience •Proficient verbal and written communication skills. •Proficient in computer database skills •Proficient in real time documentation in electronic format This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
