Position Overview
The job holder will lead efforts to diversify and strengthen sweater production across Ralph Lauren's global supply chain. This role focuses on managing product complexity, driving innovation, and ensuring technical expertise to execute the global sweater strategy. The position is critical in building resilient sourcing capabilities, assessing global capacity, and aligning with the company’s brand vision and business objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Global Category Strategy
- Develop and implement strategies to diversify sweater production across regions, mitigating sourcing risks and ensuring long-term competitiveness.
- Conduct global capacity and capability assessments to ensure allocation readiness and supplier diversification.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and the Global Category Lead to align the sweater category strategy with business goals.
Product Development & Complexity Management
- Secure and manage product complexities, including innovative yarn and fabric development, across regions to meet design and production needs.
- Establish and maintain global standards for product sophistication, ensuring consistency across regions and suppliers.
- Develop both physical and digital reference standards to drive seamless product and component approvals.
- Ensure global standards are adapted to address regional sourcing challenges and opportunities.
Technical Expertise & Standards
- Build technical expertise in yarn development, fabric innovation, and production processes to support category requirements.
- Partner with R&D to develop innovative yarns that align with the brand’s identity, ensuring quality reliability.
- Leverage digital tools to streamline product approvals and ensure consistency across global regions.
- Drive the development and adoption of “golden standards” for yarns and components to ensure global consistency.
Collaboration & Execution
- Work closely with R&D, Product Development, and Design teams to align brands and seasonal development strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to establish and maintain equal product / golden standards.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in textile technology or a related field.
- Proven track record in yarn, fabric, and product development, preferably within the sweater category or similar apparel sectors.
- Deep technical expertise in yarn and fabric development, as well as production processes and techniques.
- Experience in managing global category strategies, conducting capacity assessments, and solving regional sourcing challenges.
- Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Highly organized and systematic, with a focus on meeting quality standards and ensuring precision in all deliverables.
