Adjunct Professor - Biostatistics for Biology Majors at Lehman College

The Department of Biological Sciences at Lehman College seeks an Adjunct Professor to teach BIO 240: Biostatistics for Biology Majors .

BIO 240 Biostatistics (3 credit, 2-hour lecture and 2-hour lab) is taught as an online, synchronous course for biology majors)

Fall 2025 Schedule:

  • Lecture: Wednesdays, 9:00 AM – 10:40 AM
  • Labs: Mondays, 11:00 AM – 12:40 PM and Wednesdays, 11:00 AM – 12:40 PM

Course Objectives

Bio 240 aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the methods of collecting, presenting, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data. The course will also equip students with practical skills in using statistical software for data analysis. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of fundamental statistical theory and be proficient in applying various statistical methods to different types of data and experimental designs.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand Statistical Theory : Grasp key concepts in statistical theory including probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis.
  2. Apply Statistical Methods : Use appropriate statistical techniques for analyzing and interpreting data from various experimental designs and scientific studies.
  3. Use Statistical Software : Proficiently use R and RStudio to perform data analysis, create scientific graphs, and interpret results.
  4. Develop Problem-Solving Skills : Demonstrate the ability to tackle real-world data analysis problems using statistical methods and software tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

A graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in Biostatistics or in a related field which utilizes biostatistics tools. A minimum of three years of teaching experience is preferred.

COMPENSATION

$ 119.35 per hour. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
