The General Manager of The Rock is responsible for the overall management, profitability, promotion and operation of the property and its events. This position will manage all financial, business and operation aspects of the property and must meet the financial and strategic goals set forth annually. Areas of responsibility include security & parking, event services, fan operations, building and facilities operations, budget and staff talent management as well as coordination and oversight of third-party relationships related to culinary operations, and housekeeping. A successful General Manager will be able to balance challenging operational standards, evaluation and improvements of existing policies and procedures and staff accountability, with the appropriate management style. Oversight and assurance that the operations of the property are conducted in accordance with applicable local, state and federal regulations.
What You'll Do:
Administration and Operations
- Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs all activities and personnel engaged in the functions of building and facility operations, security & parking, fan operations, and event services.
- Coordinates and oversees third party relationships in the areas of culinary operations, landscaping, and housekeeping.
- Oversees development of the calendar and activity schedule for The Rock at La Cantera.
- Evaluates existing policies and procedures and recommends improvements which reflect the needs of the property, improve the efficiency and safety of operations and/or improves service.
- Determines and evaluates organizational structure and staffing requirements of The Rock at La Cantera.
- Assures the development of staff as it relates to personal and professional growth and training as well as employee development plans and performance assessments.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the third-party operators, basketball operations, city and county personnel and all those involved with activation at The Rock at La Cantera.
Programming and Revenue Generation
- Oversees and partners with the Programming Director to develop and execute events for The Rock at La Cantera that align with the vision and drive positive net revenue.
- Manages the development of a comprehensive events program to maximize the use of all exterior spaces as well as catering opportunities within the Victory Capital Performance Center and Spurs Club.
- Constantly innovating the guest experience – food, service, communications, etc. Balancing creativity with practical implementation.
- Oversees the operation and revenue generation of the restaurant and social club on property and manages the relationship with the third-party operator.
Financial Oversight
- Directs the development and execution of a detailed operating budget for all property related revenue and expenses.
- Develop and oversee the capital budget for The Rock at La Cantera.
- Supervise the development and analysis of event proformas to include facility rental, ancillary revenue streams and event related expenses.
- Oversee, and monitor third party operating budgets for various businesses on property.
Who You Are:
- BS/BA Degree required or any combination of education and experience equivalent experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Must have 5-7 years of experience supervising management level and line level employees with a proven history of leadership abilities to include Seeking and developing talent.
- Demonstrated track record in forging relationships with community assets and community involvement.
- Must have a proven history of developing and managing budgets.
- Experience/knowledge of overseeing all aspects of the operation of event, or multi-purpose gathering spaces, is strongly preferred.
- Must have event sales & marketing experience.
- The ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours, as needed.
- Perform additional duties as required by senior leadership.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/sit/walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
- This role is based in San Antonio - 20% of the job duties can be performed remotely, 80% of the work performed onsite as needed or based on event load.
