About the Role** The NebBiz team brings together Uber’s products, state of the art technologies and Uber’s engineering infrastructure to deliver automated support experiences including chatbots to provide enhanced customer experience. Our products are capable of interacting with customers, performing cognitive analysis of customer interactions in real time and responding and interacting automatically with the customers. Our automated assistants are built on dialog management frameworks, Uber’s support logic, natural language understanding models and customer communication data to deliver automated support experience that reduces burden on human agents and provides faster response to the customers. We constantly thrive on providing the next generation of customer assistants which are a result of Uber's big bold bets. As a result we are building the next generation chatbots leveraging GenAI models to provide more personalized, empathetic, human-like conversations that are also compliant with Uber’s business policies . **What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points** \-\-\-\- What the Candidate Will Do ---- We are seeking a strong and passionate software engineer with experience in building products to provide a magical user experience needing support for Uber Products. You will be responsible for creating scalable, reliable, manageable products that deliver on conversational requirements at Uber by bringing together LLM prompts and Assistant building platforms at Uber. You will be owning customer facing products that impact the support experience of millions of customers. Your responsibility will include identifying required changes across Uber’s engineering ecosystem, collaborating with engineering teams, driving consensus, implementing extensible, maintainable changes required to build state-of-the-art support experiences. We are looking for someone who has passion for designing and driving large projects from inception to production. The right person will work with stakeholders, product managers, scientists, partner engineering teams to gather requirements and translate them into a platform feature. Must be a great communicator, team player, and a technical powerhouse. \-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ---- 01. BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. 02. 3+ years of experience with systems software engineering. 03. Excellent coding/debugging abilities. 04. Hands-on knowledge of programming languages, Distributed systems, MicroServices, API contracts, data store systems and message queue and data technologies. We use programming languages like Go, Java, data stores like Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis and MQs like Kafka- Any programming language is fine. 05. Sound understanding of computer architecture and CS fundamentals. Can discuss the tradeoff between architectural choices, both on a theoretical level and on an applied level. 06. Detailed problem-solving approach and knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis. 07. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents. 08. Experience in working with large-scale, highly-available systems that solve complex, organizational level business problems 09. Experience leveraging AI and LLM based tools 10. Understanding of fault-tolerant systems and multi-datacenter/cloud architectures \-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ---- 1. Experience building software leveraging AI and LLM models 2. Experience building products related to various communication channels like chat/chatbots, email, phone etc. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
