Reporting & Analytics (R&A) functions to develop and integrate proactive approaches to financial planning and analysis, cost management, and the utilization of the Business Intelligence (BI) application. This includes conducting advanced data management and financial analytics to help improve efficiency, increase productivity, and eliminate waste.The Senior Planning Analyst assumes a lead role, subject matter and technical expertise in such areas as standardized internal financial reporting, ad hoc reporting support, financial analytics, data quality and validation, KPI reporting, and the development of policies and procedures within the Business Finance organization. This position requires extensive expertise in the functionality and architecture of Business Intelligence systems (Oracle BI) and the ability to address customer issues with system solutions, while leading requirements, organizing meetings to translate analysis and reporting requirements into data requirements. Core Responsibilities

- Overall responsibilities include the following:
- Develops efficient and high-performing database queries to support data movement solutions
- Builds new and/or modifies existing data movement solutions to meet business and systems requirements through software component designing, coding, testing, and quality review
- Provides support for data movement solutions, including extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes, query, and data validation
- Creates, maintains, follows, and/or implements data movement processes, strategies, guidelines, standards, and training
- Provides consultation on analytic capabilities and enterprise integrated data assets to business partners to mature the Enterprise Data Movement vision and direction
- Performs analysis and problem resolution related to data movement work
- Promotes standards for data movement execution and delivery approaches
- Collaborate with architecture, project, test and service areas to determine and identify testing risks
- Participates in requirements and high level design reviews
- Have a working understanding of Data Warehouses and Star Schemas
- Work with IT representatives to extract data elements electronically in a format that can be replicated across a variety of platforms
- Interpret complex data sets and package key insights for the executive team and product leaders
- Participate in the design and development of internal analysis tools
- Evaluate existing templates and tools and enhance functionality and capabilities
- Build analytical models from our extensive data set to test hypotheses
- Develop internal analysis tools to enhance processes for future engagements
- Design and build best-in-class executive and operational dashboards, tools, and reports, with the objective to drive key decisions for client management
- Develop materials for end users including user guides, product specifications and training materials
- Collects and analyzes data in order to expose and establish the steps and areas needed to improve business organization
- Confers with R&A Managers on unusual matters around accounting, financial, regulatory and process issues
- Under general supervision, plans, conducts, and supervises assignments while reviewing progress and evaluating results of lesser experienced analysts
- Work with the R&A team in:
- Creating and generating the monthly standard internal financial reporting packages that are used across operating and support groups at CECONY and O&R.
- Developing and maintaining the standard reporting templates used for the monthly internal financial reporting package, Current Working d (CWEs), and forecasting for monthly distribution to senior management and automation in BI if its deemed that the reports add the value for all.
- Performing cost/benefit and root cause analyses on an ad hoc basis to support operating and support organizations.
- Ensuring the validity of financial data and driving resolutions to data quality issues not only in BI but all of the various feeder systems including work management systems.
- Enhancing the Business Intelligence (BI) application and users interaction with BI.
- Develop and maintain procedures, methodology, and documentation within the Business Finance organization.
- Research, propose, and institute solutions to business problems (e.g.; clearing, overheads, burdens, accruals; etc.).
- Provide training and development of applicable personnel on system related topics including Oracle EBS, Business Intelligence, WMS, etc.
- Assist in training, assigning, and reviewing work of less seasoned analysts.
- Develop KPI template and report on financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Review and track actual financial performance and attainment of KPIs against plans on a monthly basis.
- Review CPI dashboard updated by senior analysts and analysts.
- Review and track actual financial performance and attainment of KPIs against plans on a monthly basis.
- Utilize advanced reporting and analytics skills in identifying cost savings or avoidance opportunities for business users.
- Be an integral member of the R&A senior team in ensuring business plans are completed in accordance with prescribed guidelines and established procedures.
- Work with the R&A senior team to develop actionable plans to enhance cost control mechanisms for the various user organizations.
- Evaluate current and proposed financial plans and policies and recommends changes that will impact the business users strategic planning process.
- Create training modules and presentations to foster a culture of financial excellence along with communications to key users on system and process changes.
- Effectuate change within the organization by implementing methods to standardize and improve processes across Business Finance.
- Utilize project management skills to lead and facilitate fixes for system data integrity (e.g., BI, Oracle, and Logica).
- Serve as liaison between Corporate Accounting and Cost Analysis.
- Perform other administrative functions, including:
- Support operating organization during ICS and emergency situations
- Providing advice and recommending necessary training to members of the Reporting team
- Serve as an alternate for Section Manager when required for presentations and other tasks
- Performs other tasks as required.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and Five or more years of full time relevant experience
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master's Degree
- Bachelor's Degree Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. and Five or more years of full time relevant experience
Relevant Work Experience
- 5-7 years Five to seven years of any combination of utility accounting, planning and administration, and budgeting experience. Required and
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications. Required and
- Ability to write and execute system queries utilizing of Structured Quality Language (SQL). Required and
- Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in financial modeling, analytics and reporting. Required and
